Magdalena Kamphausen
Magdalena Kamphausen (b. 2000) paints to make sense of themselves and the world.
She is an artist desiring to bring the “other” close. Using representational portraiture as a medium for reflection, meditation, and confrontation, she aims to use the exploration of their own fat, queer, painted, body to challenge the patriarchal gaze in resistance and celebration. Their work often explores experiences, narratives, and spiritual concepts she encountered growing up among evangelical Christianity. Magdalena currently works as a Studio Facilitator at Arts of Life, a progressive art studio for artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
